Security and sign-in
You can sign in to FinTarget with an email and password or with Google. Two-factor authentication adds an authenticator code to every sign-in, and you manage it all from Settings.
- Email and password. New accounts confirm their email first. The confirmation email links to a page where you select the confirm button.
- Google. Choose Continue with Google on the sign-up or log-in page. FinTarget asks for your country the first time, and fills in your name from Google.
- Add a password to a Google account. In Settings, choose Set a password. This is refused if the account already has one.
Two-factor authentication
There are no backup codes. If you lose your authenticator and cannot reach your email, FinTarget support has to remove it for you.
Password changes
- Changing your password asks for your current password first.
- It signs out your other sessions and disconnects every connected AI app. Resetting two-factor authentication through email does the same.
Inactive accounts
If you do not sign in for a long time, FinTarget emails you after 30, 45 and 53 days. At 60 days the account is archived. Your data is kept, and you can reinstate the account from the reinstate page with your email and last password.
Delete your account
Open Settings and go to the Danger zone. Deleting permanently removes your account and all of its data, and it cannot be undone. If you have a password you confirm it first. A Google-only account confirms by typing its email address.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely fix |
|---|---|
| A confirmation link has expired | Likely fixLinks expire after an hour. Use the resend form on the error page. |
| You are asked for a code you do not have | Likely fixUse the email option on the code page, as above. |
| Too many attempts | Likely fixSign-up, password reset and resend pages limit repeated requests. Wait a few minutes and try again. |
