Income

Income records everything you earn: salary, interest, dividends and the profit from share sales. Recurring income is added for you, and you can compare any period with the one before it.

Add income

  • Enter an amount, a date and an income type. The type is required, and a description is optional.
  • Manage your types from the type dialog, where you can add, rename and delete them.
  • Dividends and share sales create their own income entries. You do not need to add those by hand.
  • Turn on Recurring, pick a frequency and FinTarget shows the next date before you save.

Recurring income

Frequencies are weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly and yearly. Once a day, when you open the app, FinTarget adds one entry for each date that has passed and moves the next date forward. Choose Manage Recurring to see every recurring item in one list, with monthly totals for each currency. From there you can edit the next date, stop a schedule or delete it.

Stopping a schedule keeps the original entry and clears the repeat. Deleting an entry removes only that one transaction, and the copies already created stay.

Find and compare

  • Filter. Use the type chips and the description search. The date filter works by range, month or year.
  • Second currency. Totals show in your default currency, with a toggle if you set a second one.
  • Compare. Turn on Compare next to the date filter to see the change against the previous period. A full month compares with the month before, and a full year with the year before. A Type Comparison table lists every income type.

Import from a CSV

Choose Import CSV. FinTarget finds the date, amount and description columns, whatever the header is called, and understands six date formats such as dd/MM/yyyy and yyyy-MM-dd. You review every row before it is saved. A file can be up to 2 MB and 5,000 rows.

A recurring entry did not appearLikely fixEntries are added when you open the app after the due date. Open Income and it catches up.
A total looks too highLikely fixDividend and sale income are included. Filter by type to separate them.
