Notifications

Notifications tells you about large price moves, upcoming ex-dividend dates and ticker renames on the shares you hold. The bell icon in the top bar shows how many you have not read.

Turn them on

Open Settings and go to Notifications. There are three settings:

  • Price alerts notify you when a stock you hold moves by more than a set percentage in a day.
  • Alert threshold is one percentage for every holding in every portfolio. The default is 5%.
  • Dividend reminders notify you a few days before a stock you hold goes ex-dividend.

What you receive

TypeWhen it appears
Price alertWhen it appearsA holding moved up or down by more than your threshold in a day.
Dividend reminderWhen it appearsA holding’s ex-dividend date falls within the next 5 days.
Ticker renameWhen it appearsAn exchange renamed a ticker and FinTarget updated your holdings, trades and dividends. This does not depend on your settings.

Notifications are created once a day, at 21:00 UTC, which is early morning in Melbourne. A new alert appears after that run and not in real time.

Read and clear them

  • Select a notification to mark it as read, or choose Mark all as read.
  • The list shows your newest 100. The bell counts every unread notification, including older ones the list no longer shows, and Mark all as read clears all of them.
